full description
Merle is a bright, curious little dog who has been at ASAP since 8th March 2024. Previously she lived on the street. There she got on well with all dogs and also with cats. She was a bit malnourished but is now putting on weight.
Merle walks quite well on the lead, but still needs to learn when distracted.
She coped well with the visit to the vet in town. She doesn't like driving but does it very well.
Merle is very reserved and cautious with people at first contact. However, once she has got to know a person, she will approach them of her own accord.
Merle currently lives in the house with other dogs, but has a box in which she has space to herself and in which she also sleeps overnight. She is clean but sometimes has a little mishap when under stress. She sleeps through the night and is quiet in her box. During the day she is also outside wehre she can run and play with the other dogs.
She gets along well on walks with the other 6 dogs in her foster home and runs along well. In the meantime, she has built up so much trust and bonding that she is now allowed to walk off the lead from time to time and keeps coming back. Sometimes of her own accord. She seems to have a pronounced ‘sniffer nose’ and likes to persistently follow tracks. However, she has no interest in the fenced-in chickens and peacocks in her foster home.
Merle sometimes has a mind of her own but can quickly adapt to routines and generally learns very quickly.
More to follow soon...
